There might have been a time when your family felt close and connected, but over the years, things may have started to shift. Maybe miscommunication, unresolved conflicts, or major life changes have created distance between you. Whether it’s tension between parents and children, sibling disagreements, or different perspectives within the household, family relationships can become strained in ways that feel hard to fix.
But you don’t have to figure it out alone. We work with families to rebuild connection by helping them recognize their strengths, improve communication, and understand each other on a deeper level. When family members can see how their actions impact one another and learn better ways to interact, trust starts to grow again. Therapy gives your family the tools to reconnect, support each other, and move forward as a stronger, more united team.
Conflicts in families can often stem from deep-seated emotional wounds, intergenerational trauma, unspoken assumptions, and unresolved past experiences. When these patterns persist, they can lead to resentment, emotional distance, and a lack of trust. Family counselling creates a safe space where each family member can express their thoughts, emotions, and perspectives without fear of judgment.
By working with our trained therapists, families can begin to understand and heal psychological injuries, work through judgments and assumptions, and foster forgiveness. Therapy provides tools to restore a sense of safety and vulnerability, allowing family members to reconnect meaningfully. With improved communication, respect, and active listening, each individual’s voice is heard and valued, paving the way for a harmonious home environment.
Parenting is one of the most rewarding experiences in life, but it can also come with its fair share of challenges. Conflicts with kids and teens, differences in parenting styles, and everyday stress can sometimes make home life feel overwhelming and exhausting. It’s not always easy to know the best way to set boundaries, discipline effectively, or communicate in a way that strengthens your relationship with your child.
That’s where parent coaching comes in. Our trained therapists work with you to create a supportive and structured approach that meets the unique needs of your family, helping to guide your parenting using evidence-based techniques to improve connection within the family. Whether you're dealing with behavioural challenges, navigating co-parenting after separation, or just looking to build a stronger connection with your child, we provide practical tools and strategies to help you feel more confident and in control. With the right guidance, you can create a home environment where both you and your children can thrive.
Finding a time that works for everyone can be one of the hardest parts of starting family counselling. Between work, school, and other commitments, it’s not always easy to get everyone in the same place at the same time. That’s why we offer online counselling—so your family can get the support it needs from anywhere in Alberta. Whether you’re juggling different schedules or just looking for a more convenient option, virtual sessions make it easier for everyone to be involved without added stress.
Of course, some families prefer face-to-face sessions, and we offer those too. Meeting in person provides a comfortable space to connect, talk things through, and work toward healing together. Whatever works best for your family, we’re here to make the process as smooth and accessible as possible.
Without knowing, our actions can cause deep hurt for our family members. Sometimes their actions can cause a deep pain within us too. We might try and sweep this under the rug or increase the distance between us and our family. This might show up as the silent treatment, constant arguments, or family members feeling unheard and dismissed. This often can create an unhealthy dynamic that leads to further breakdowns in the family.
Family counselling provides a structured environment where these issues can be addressed constructively. By facilitating open conversations, helping family members express their feelings safely, and guiding them towards mutual understanding, we assist families in repairing the damage that has been done. The goal is to move beyond past hurts and work towards a future where family members can support and uplift one another rather than feeling stuck in conflict and resentment.
1. Initial assessment: Your therapist will meet with each member of the family to understand what is going on with their relationship and what needs to be addressed in order for healing to begin.
2. Individual assessments: If your trained therapist believes it would be helpful, they will then meet with each family member separately for one session to better understand them and their specific needs as they pertain to the family unit as a whole.
3. Family counselling begins: The family will come together for structured therapy sessions where the therapist will share observations, provide guidance, and introduce strategies for improving relationships. These sessions will involve developing skills such as healthy communication, emotional regulation, conflict resolution, and building trust.
Healing takes time, but with commitment from all family members, counselling can help restore the love, trust, and respect that are essential for a happy and supportive family life.

This really depends on what it is you are looking to achieve. On average, most clients find 6-8 sessions to be what they require. For some clients with complex trauma, this number may be higher. Whereas for some with a single issue such as occupational stress, this number might be lower.
